10 Great Nutritional Habits for Great Health!

  1. Avoid fad diets. It is about learning to eat healthy. Remember, everyone is different. For some people, it is best to eat 3 moderate meals daily, others it is better to eat multiple smaller meals.
  2. Drink adequate water throughout the day.
  3. Carefully plan each meal rather than just grabbing haphazardly whatever comes into your line of vision. Use a shopping list at supermarkets.
  4. Don’t skip meals. You are more likely to snack on high calorie, high fat foods. Plus, this puts you in starvation mode, which is fat storage mode.
  5. Use minimal amounts of sugar and sweeteners.  Avoid high sugar drinks such as soda, fruit juice, and other flavored beverages. Avoid foods high in sugar such as jams, chocolate, cookies, cakes, ice cream, and ice confections. Use agave nectar, sucanat, xylitol, or other natural sweeteners.
  6. Eat at least 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.  They are nutritious and help to prevent constipation.
  7. Keep away from refined carbohydrates. Eat healthy carbohydrate choices instead, such as whole grains, healthy legumes, vegetables, and fruits.
  8. Avoid alcohol when dieting.
  9. When dining out or preparing meals, avoid fried and sauce-laden dishes.
  10. Take a multivitamin and mineral supplement when dieting, particularly if tired and irritable.

The Biggest Detox Myth – You do NOT have to feel like crap to detoxify

Yes – many programs that cause the body to detox will make you feel like you were hit by a bus. It is not necessary to feel like this in order to detox. The feeling of detox is not the best way to determine success. Your tongue is the best gauge of how your detoxification is going.

3 Different Ways to Detox

Fasting

Fasting is the oldest and most traditional way of detoxing. It is even referenced in the Old Testament of the Bible – that is how old it is.

Today there are “juice fasts” where you only drink fresh squeezed vegetable juice. The “master cleanse” where you drink a concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup, Cayenne pepper and water, the “apple juice cleanse”, etc. They all involve drinking one substance and not eating any other food.

Fasting is very effective but can be difficult to actually do. Because many people have never detoxified before, it will often take weeks before they have completely detoxified. Fasting for weeks is not an easy thing to do. You can try it for 3 days a month or month after month until your tongue is pink. You do not have to do it all at once.

Basically, all fasting-type detox plans are equally good; therefore, it’s just a matter of determining what you want to be your only food-like substance to drink while you are fasting. The substance itself you are drinking is not so important as long as it is not toxic itself. So, if you decide to begin a fasting cleanse, pick a drink you like to drink and try that one.

Colonics

A colonic is the infusion of water into the rectum by a doctor to cleanse and flush out the intestines. It is also called colonic hydrotherapy or colon irrigation.

Detox Formulations
